AFTER LIFE:
The J.M. Jones House on Main Street
Clifton Forge, my hometown, was—and at its heart, still is—a railroad town. The soft burble of a train whistle is the soundtrack to memories of growing up here. But when the jobs left, so did people. Now, after life as a railroad boom town, Clifton Forge is populated by quiet, empty houses and derelict shops. And like all things, these structures will pass. But before the next cycle in the town's life, buildings stand as testament to the way we once lived and how we live now. After life, there is memory and there is hope.
